Re: Perfect harmony: A mathematical analysis of four historical tunings

Ageism? If one thinks about pre-20th century composers, one has to take
into account life expectancy -- people lived shorter lives and got to the
point earlier. But, as a counterpoint to Mozart, there is Verdi who
composed (to me his best opera) Falstaff past his 80th. Current composers
also tend to live longer and stay active throughout. As an example, Ligeti
is 80 and is still composing some arresting music.
