The 7th International Conference on Digital Audio
Effects, DAFx'04, will be
held October 5-8, 2004, at the Federico II University of Naples, organized by the Acoustics and Electronics Laboratory of the Department of Physical Sciences. DAFx grew from a very successful COST action in
Europe and has established
a reputation for the excellence of the papers and its open, friendly atmosphere. It is an event where everyone is involved in some aspect of music and information technology, from new ways to play electronic instruments to music information retrieval. DAFx appeals to researchers and practitioners in
digital audio and digital
music processing. The conference will feature keynote addresses,
poster and spoken presentation
sessions over 3 days. The social program is planned to include a concert,
a banquet and much more.
Papers are solicited for, but not limited to, the
following topics:
· Filtering and Modulation · Delays and Spatialization · Linear and non-linear effects · Sound Transformations · Time-frequency & Spectral Processing · Representations of Musical Signals · Audio Coding & Sound Modeling · Perceptual Issues and Psychoacoustics · Software and Hardware Implementations · Music Information Retrieval Systems · Automatic Transcription and high-level features · Audio analysis and low-level features · Auditory Displays and installations · Source Separation · Audio Restoration · Internet Audio and Internet Acoustics · Audio for Multimedia · Compositional uses and issues · Performance and gesture control The accepted contributions will be published in the
Conference Proceedings
(hard copy and CD-ROM) distributed to all registered delegates at the Conference site. After the Conference closure, the Proceedings will be published on the Internet. Naples, where the past meets the future for a
profound discussion, together with its
famous surroundings, from Pompeii to Sorrento and Capri, is the perfect frame for this multidisciplinary event. The town features a long-standing musical tradition, natural, archeological and cultural attractions and lovely food. DAFx04 affords you the opportunity to have a taste of this lively city overlooking its bay from its several hills and facing the Vesuvius volcano, a renowned source of inspiration. Paper Submission
Prospective authors are invited to submit
full-length papers before April 16, 2004,
according to one of the following two formats: · Oral presentation of paper: maximum 6 pages
in the Proceedings; about 20 minutes
for presentation · Poster presentation: maximum 4 pages in the
Proceedings.
Submission is fully electronic and automated
through the Conference Web Submission System
(submission opens February 2, 2004). Papers must be prepared according to the instructions available at the DAFx04 web site. If a submitted paper is accepted, it will be
possible to incorporate corrections and
reviewers comments in the final version, deadline June 18, 2004. Important Deadlines
