part-time teaching job for new audology course
Department of Phonetics and Linguistics, UCL
Temporary Part-time Lectureship
in Speech and Hearing
Science
A new undergraduate BSc degree in Audiology will be offered at
UCL from Autumn 2003. We seek a half-time lecturer to form part of a team
teaching students from this course and from the BSc degree in Speech Science.
Course content will be focused on various topics in speech and hearing science
including speech acoustics, speech perception, and basic concepts of signals and
systems analysis. Clinical and/or research experience in a relevant area would
be an advantage. The initial contract will be for a period of three years and
will be renewable.
Teaching will involve some lecturing but there will
be an emphasis on small group tutorials and laboratory supervision. Crucial will
be an ability to convey relatively technical material to students from
non-science backgrounds.
A starting date during the 2003-2004 academic
year is negotiable, but early availability would be preferred. The salary will
be pro-rata (0.5 FTE) on the Lecturer scale range A: £22,191 to £25,451 per
annum plus £2,134 per annum London Allowance.
