Boris, just one more data point in addition to the wave editor software Adam mentioned: Audacity (audacity.sourceforge.net). It's free (open source, in fact), multi-platform, has a Noise Removal effect, and has some features even the top commercial stuff does not. (I'm one of the authors.) -Vaughan
