Re: audtion & the cerebellum
Ani
In addition to the vermis, there are auditory pathways to lateral and
intermediate cerebellum via the posterior parietal cortex (PPC) and the
pontine nucleus. See for example
Glickstein, M., May, J.G. & Mercier, R.E. (1985). Corticopontine projections
in the macaque: the distribution of labelled cortical cells after large
injections of horseradish peroxidase in the pontine nuclei. Journal of
Comparative Neurology, 235: 343-359.
Hyvärinen, J. (1982). The parietal cortex of monkey and man. Berlin:
Springer-Verlag.
Linden J.F., Grunewald, A. & Andersen, R.A. (1999). Responses to auditory
stimuli in macaque lateral intraparietal area. II. Behavioral modulation.
Journal of Neurophysiology, 82: 343-358.
Stein, J. (1995) The PPC, the cerebellum and the visual guidance of
movement. In F.W. Cody (Ed.) Neural Control of Skilled Human Movement.
Portland Press: London. pp 31-49.
