Research Associate in Hearing Research
The Department hopes soon to have funding to make an appointment to the
position of Research Associate in the research group of Prof. B.C.J. Moore,
in the Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Cambridge. For

The position is funded by Nokia and is expected to be available for a
period of two years, with a starting date preferably during the summer of
2000.
The research project is concerned with the audibility of distortion in
audio systems. The goal is to run perceptual experiments measuring the
perceived magnitude of various forms of distortion and to devise physical
measures of distortion that are highly correlated with the perceptual
measures.
Applicants should preferably have a Ph.D. in audio engineering, electrical
engineering, psychoacoustics, or a related field. Experience in computer
programming and/or signal processing would be an advantage.
The starting salary range will be within the RA1A scale, from £16286 to
£20,811.
