POSITION: Music Theory
RANK AND SALARY: Assistant Professor; nine-month tenure-track
appointment beginning Autumn Quarter 1995. $33,000.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Music Theory; outstanding research
potential; evidence of scholarly activity and effective teaching at the
college level; research interest in music perception/cognition desirable.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses;
advise undergraduate and graduate students and serve on graduate
committees. Responsibilities may include coordination of core
undergraduate theory and aural training courses. Other assignments
to be determined by the needs of the School and the qualifications of
the successful candidate. Maintain creative/scholarly and service
contributions appropriate for a faculty member at a major research
university.
INFORMATION: The Ohio State University is located in Columbus,
Ohio, a metropolitan area of over 1,385,000. The School of Music, a
unit of the College of the Arts, has over 60 faculty members and enrolls
approximately 350 undergraduate and 200 graduate students. The school
offers a comprehensive selection of degrees from the baccalaureate to the
doctoral level. The Music Theory and Composition Area has nine full-time
faculty members and offers degrees at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral
levels.
