Subject: [AUDITORY] Advice on Acoustic room setup for mouse ultrasonic electrophysiology (DPOAE/ABR) From: Shreya Siva <shreyasivashar@xxxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 19 Feb 2026 15:47:43 +0530--000000000000f6c1b3064b2a9dd7 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" *Dear Auditory List Members,* I am currently tasked with setting up a new electrophysiology lab focused on DPOAE and ABR measurements in mice (testing effects of noise exposure and age related effects). Given our interest in the ultrasonic range (3KHZ- 48 KHZ), I am seeking advice on the best practices for characterizing the ambient acoustic and noise floor of the testing environment. While standard dBA meters are sufficient for human-centric acoustics, they are inadequate for the ultrasonic sensitivities of rodents. I am particularly concerned about: - Recommendations for Noise Dosimeters - what should I look for? What parameters should a dosimeter have to check for these ultrasonic frequencies? - *Would an EEG booth suffice for this purpose? It is well grounded* Apologies if these are too vague, I am a novice in this. Would appreciate any help you can provide.
