The PhD will focus on either of the following projects: *Personalized Closed-Captions* This project would involve a longitudinal evaluation of customizable closed-captions with people who use captions for access (e.g., Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing folks, neurodiverse folks, etc.) Relevant skills include a background in HCI, accessibility, and mixed-methods research. Experience with web-programming, Disability studies/critical theory, and/or audio-visual production is preferred. *Music Personalization with Cochlear Implant Users* The project would involve the co-design, development, and evaluation of an app to perform music source separation in (close to) real-time, and give Cochlear Implant users various options to personalize their music. Relevant skills include audio signal processing/digital signal processing and mobile app development. Experience with Disability studies/critical theory, HCI, and/or accessibility is preferred.
