Deadline for= applications 11th Jan 2026. The Sustainable Sounds Futures CDT is a leading doctoral training centre, f= unded by EPSRC in collaboration with the universities of Salford, Sheffield= , Bristol, and Southampton and over 50 project partners. The PhDs are fully= funded and available at all four universities. Projects most relevant to Auditory are: * Communication and listening effort for blind and partially sighted pe= ople (with RNIB) * Personalised auditory and listener preference modelling for headphone= audio optimisation (with Sonos) * Restorative urban green space: addressing inequity from a sound persp= ective (with UKHSA) * Accessible tinnitus notch noise therapy via machine learning, acousti= c metamaterials and additive manufacturing (with NHS and Tinnitus UK) Candidates must have the potential to do great research and contribute new = knowledge to the field of acoustics. They will have a broader interest in s= ound and want to join and collaborate across a diverse community of researc= hers. This doctoral programme will provide access to bespoke training and s= pecialist laboratories to support individual research and develop the core = skills to make a difference in your future career.
