No specific background is required; however, individuals with experience = conducting physiologic and/or behavioral research with school-age children = or with pediatric audiology experience are especially encouraged to apply. Research in the CARES lab aims to improve our understanding of communicatio= n challenges faced by school-age children with and without hearing differen= ces. We use a combination of subjective, behavioral, and electrophysiologic= methods to learn about listening effort, attention allocation, and the eff= ects of intervention (e.g., hearing aids, remote microphones) on communicat= ion. Results from our work provide valuable information to audiologists, sp= eech-language pathologists, and teachers of children who are deaf and hard = of hearing about environmental and child-specific characteristics that cont= ribute to communication breakdowns.
