Oct. 1st from 4 pm to 7:30 pm (CEST): https://tu-berlin.zoom-x.de/j/6864707= 9945?pwd=3DUyaWd5ly6ZQOQMnSgrmsS4T8HskhmP.1 If you are planning to attend, we appreciate if you can sign up here https://cloudy.ak.tu-berlin.de/index.php/apps/forms/s/KWeE9c8KJe8XQCs32QtHY= zqJ (signing up is not mandatory, but will help us to structure the discussions= ) Marc Sch=F6nwiesner will open the workshop with a keynote on HRTF adaptatio= n, followed by group discussions on ideas, requirements, challenges, and op= en questions regarding the establishment of a standardized HRTF set. Background: Listener-specific head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) impro= ve the perceived quality of virtual sound compared to using non-individuali= zed HRTFs, but sufficiently accurate individualisation is not always feasib= le. The NEMO initiative proposes to work as a community towards an alternat= ive HRTF set that could lead to a similar immersive experience for the vast= majority of listeners. This alternative relies on the adaptation abilities= of listeners on using a new set of HRTFs as if it was their own through co= nsistent use of it. The NEMO initiative aims at finding and proposing a def= ault HRTF dataset, which could be used across applications when individual = HRTFs are not available. In the long run, this could improve the spatial au= dio perception and ease the incorporation of spatial audio to all kinds of = and across applications.
