Please see a PhD Studentship opportunity below, open to candidates of all n= ationalities. Please feel free to forward to anyone who may be interested. = Thank you! Best regards, Enzo =97 PHD STUDENTSHIP IN DATA-DRIVEN AUDIO AND ACOUSTIC ENGINEERING University of Surrey (UK) Post Type: in-person, full time Location: Guildford (35 minutes by fast train from London) Support package: up to =A3137,000, including stipend (UKRI rate) and tuitio= n fees (international level) Closing Date: 23.59 hours BST on Sunday 6 July 2025 Start Date: October 2025 Supervisor: Prof Enzo De Sena This fully funded PhD studentship is aligned with AURORA=B3, the new Nation= al Strategic Infrastructure currently being built at the University of Surr= ey to support cutting-edge research in audio, acoustics, and AI. AURORA=B3 = will enable fast, accurate and reproducible data collection thanks to a sta= te-of-the-art acoustic anechoic chamber equipped with a spherical loudspeak= er array and a world-first variable acoustics room enabling reverberation t= imes as well as room volume to be precisely controlled. AURORA=B3 is suppor= ted by a =A32.2 million investment from the Engineering and Physical Scienc= es Research Council (EPSRC), in addition to significant contributions from = the University of Surrey and the 18 AURORA=B3 partners. The PhD studentship will support AURORA=B3=92s early research activities, i= ncluding e.g. validation of the infrastructure, design and execution of lar= ge scale measurement campaigns, and development of data driven models for r= oom acoustics and spatial audio. The specific research direction will be fi= nalised after enrolment so that it aligns with strategic priorities of AURO= RA=B3 while also considering the candidate=92s expertise.=20 The PhD student will be hosted by the Institute of Sound Recording (IoSR), = an internationally-leading centre for research in acoustic engineering. The= IoSR is also home to the world-renowned Tonmeister degree, which has produ= ced a stream of highly successful graduates who have collectively received = numerous accolades, including three Oscars, twelve Grammys, six Emmys, and = twelve BAFTAs.=20 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS You will need to meet the minimum entry requirements for our PhD programme.= You will have a strong interest in audio and demonstrate a high level of a= cademic achievement in relevant subject areas and a clear aptitude for rese= arch.
