🛎️ CALL FOR PAPERS: DRS 2026 - Theme Track 12.2 🛎️
We invite design researchers, sound experts, and practitioners to
submit their work to
Theme
Track 12.2, "Mediating Sonic Worlds: Critical Approaches to
Boundary Objects in Sound-Driven Design," for the
DRS
2026 Conference in Edinburgh!
This track critically examines how sound-driven artefacts,
representations, and arrangements—what we call "sonic boundary
objects"—can effectively facilitate cooperation and shared
understanding across diverse groups in design processes.
We are seeking submissions that address:
⭐ How objects defined by sound and listening fulfil the role of
boundary objects.
⭐ The challenges of sound's ephemeral nature to the stability of
boundary objects.
⭐ Methodologies for capturing and representing sonic experiences
for shared understanding.
⭐ The role of sonic boundary objects in promoting "sonic
habitability"—positive auditory experiences that enhance
well-being and social connection.
⏰ Key Submission Dates for DRS 2026
⏰ Deadline for Paper Titles, Abstracts, and Authors: Friday,
October 31, 2025 (AoE)
⏰ Final Deadline for Full Paper PDF: Friday, November 14, 2025
(AoE)
Join the conversation and help shape the future of design research
on sound!
