[AUDITORY] Binaural Rendering Toolbox (BRT) workshop

Dear Colleagues,

Before the Summer we announced the release of the v2.0 of our Binaural Rendering Toolbox (BRT), an open-source software suite for headphone-based immersive audio applications and psychoacoustics research. The BRT Library integrates and expands upon the foundations established in the 3D Tune-In Toolkit, taking its place from now on (please though note that hearing aid and hearing loss emulations are not yet integrated in the BRT). It is written in C++ and includes several models, modules and tools for binaurally spatialising sound sources, including different reverberation models (convolution-based, SDN, etc.), source directivity options, user-imported HRTFs (real-time swap), BRIR support, near-field simulation, full remote control via OSC, Unity wrapper/asset, user-friendly GUI, and more.

More information, as well as the BRT Library code and the various releases, can be found here:

The new online documentation, which includes also a quick start guide, can be found here:

Thanks also to the feedback of those who have expressed interest to attend it, we  have now planned a workshop where we’ll give an overview of both the theoretical basis and technical components of the BRT and of its various releases. The workshop is scheduled to take place ONLINE on the 19th of November between 11 and 1pm CET. It is open to everyone, and if you want to attend it please fill in the form below (please do it also if you have already expressed your interest before the Summer):

Before the workshop date we will share with the attendees a series of pre-recorded videos about the architecture, the models and the interconnections within the BRT, followed by an overview of the releases, the interfaces, the controls, the inputs and outputs, and other relevant functionalities. During the two hours on the 19th of November we’ll have a chance to recap on the information provided in the videos, to answer to your questions, and to consider some practical activities to get going with the BRT use. We will then also have a follow-up session in December to get back in touch with those of you who have started using the BRT, and try to offer support in case problems have been encountered.

We are looking forward to seeing many of you on the 19th of November!

Best

The BRT Team
