[AUDITORY] [Job Advert] Research Assistant Professor in Translational Auditory Neuroscience in Hong Kong

Dear List,

I am delighted to announce that we at the Chinese University of Hong are recruiting a Research Assistant Professor (RAP) in Translational Auditory Neuroscience. The position is perfect for junior researchers looking to transition to a tenure track faculty position. It is funded for three years and offers an attractive salary, very modest teaching requirements, the potential to seek independent research funding and the possibility of promotion to a regular assistant professorship at the end of the appointment.

Applicants should have (i) a PhD in a relevant discipline, such as neuroscience, electrical engineering, biomedical science or engineering, audiology or psychology; (ii) a willingness to carry out experiments involving both human participants and animal models; (iii) proficiency in coding, particularly Python or MATLAB; (iv) good computing skills with experience in advanced signal processing techniques or data science; (v) excellent English communication and academic writing skills; and (vi) strong ability to take responsibility for research projects, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative in problem-solving, with the goal of progressing swiftly towards a fully independent principal investigator role. Experience in electrophysiological, psychoacoustic measurements on CI users, or functional imaging work in humans or animals is highly desirable.

We are particularly interested in applicants who may be able to take advantage of both the animal model based fundamental research opportunities provided by Professor Schnupp’s group at the GCNI as well as the opportunities for patient facing research at the CUHK Prince of Wales Hospital, and/or the Shenzhen Longgang ENT Hospital.

To find out more, feel free to email me.

Formal applications for the position can be made through the CUHK online portal:
