JJ Johnston and Karlheinz Brandenburg generated this musical example to = show the power of masking for audio compression. They called it the 13dB = miracle because the same signal to noise ratio (13dB) sounds vey = different depending on where the noise lies in the spectral-temporal = plain. I=E2=80=99ve put these sounds on this web page for posterity https://ccrma.stanford.edu/~malcolm/13dB_Miracle/ I=E2=80=99m sending this to the auditory list because many of you might = find this interesting (30s samples each) and to get this page into the = archives (and Google). I hope you enjoy. - Malcolm
