A productive and well-led team could certainly draft such a st= atement, but it would need to be backed by late-career, awarded scientists = to have any impact. I can say that many young scientists at auditory labs here in New York, and= at least two PIs from institutions I am familiar with would probably be wi= lling to consider this idea. They are not on this list and I cannot speak f= or them, but I can reach out. Such a statement would require significant or= ganization that is not so easy to achieve in any field. If any senior scien= tist in this email chain would be interested in spearheading such an effort= , that would be wonderful. Otherwise, the idea is DoA because the concern i= s not sufficiently present in the community -- that would be a shame, but m= ay be the case.
