James W. Beauchamp (1937-2022). The "James W. Beauchamp Award for Interdisciplinary Research" will be given= to an ECE doctoral student at Illinois who is "engaged in interdisciplinar= y creative work that transcends traditional department boundaries including= , but not limited to, cross-disciplinary research in engineering and the fi= ne arts." This is obviously an area close to my professional heart, and I owe much of= my career focus to Jim Beauchamp's positive influence upon my work.
