Hi Flaithr=ED, I hope nobody will be upset when I do a bit of self-advertising here =96 we= =92ve been working on safety-related aspects of e-vehicle sound (with and w= ithout AVAS) for some time now (see links below). Our results show that for street-crossing decisions in interaction with acc= elerating EVs, pedestrians make riskier decisions than for accelerating con= ventional vehicles, even with activated AVAS. This in an ongoing project an= d we will conduct experiments targeted at identifying AVAS designs that are= more informative for pedestrians in this scenario. One relevant aspect for your project could be that AVAS is not only importa= nt for detecting the vehicle auditorily, but that in addition it is relevan= t to think about information about the vehicle=92s motion (particularly acc= eleration) conveyed by the vehicle sound. If you feel like discussing any of these aspects, just drop me an email! Best Daniel * Oberfeld, D., Wessels, M., & B=FCttner, D. (2022).
