In recent years there has been an increasing interest in academia and industry about topics at the confluence of Internet of Things and Sound and Music Computing. This has led to the emergence of the interdisciplinary field of the Internet of Sounds (IoS), which can be seen as the union of two paradigms: the Internet of Musical Things and the Internet of Audio Things. These respectively address musical and non-musical domains in networked contexts. This Special Issue aims to present high-quality original research reporting the current state of the art of IoS systems with a particular focus on the signal processing aspects involved, both in real-time and offline scenarios. We are interested in submissions covering different aspects related to the use of sound and music processing in relation to local or remote networks, as well as embedded, cloud-based and edge-based systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to the following areas: - Detection and classification of sounds in acoustic sensor networks - Signal processing and enhancement in acoustic sensor and transducer networks - Packet loss concealment methods - Embedded audio processing - Distributed audio processing - Spatial audio systems for the Internet of Sounds - Web Audio systems for the Internet of Sounds - Networked music performance systems - Cloud-based services for musical and audio applications - Sonification for Internet of Sounds applications - Intelligent music production in Internet of Musical Things contexts - Ecoacoustics - Smart Musical Instruments - Energy-efficient methods for a sustainable Internet of Sounds - Privacy and security in acoustic sensor networks - Protocols and exchange formats for the Internet of Sounds - Open audio databases for Deep Learning and Data Mining in the Internet of Sounds *Guest Editors* - Luca Turchet, University of Trento, Italy - Nils Peters, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland - Toon van Waterschoot, Audio Engineering Lab, KU Leuven, Belgium - Tuomas Virtanen, Tampere University, Finland *Submission Deadline: * - 11 June 2025 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Luca Turchet*, Ph.D. Associate Professor Head of the *Creative, Intelligent & Multisensory Interactions Laboratory* <https://www.cimil.disi.unitn.it/> Chair of the *IEEE Emerging Technology Initiative on the Internet of Sounds* <https://www.comsoc.org/about/committees/emerging-technologies-initiatives/internet-of-sounds> Founder and President of the* Internet of Sounds Research Network <https://www.internetofsounds.net/>* Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science University of Trento Via Sommarive 9 - 38123 Trento - Italy E-mail: luca.turchet@xxxxxxxx Tel: +39 0461 283792 --000000000000d985540623f31f82 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr"><div>[Apologies for cross posting, please distribute]</div= ><div style=3D"text-align:center"><b><br></b></div><div style=3D"text-align= :center"><b>Special issue on &quot;Signal Processing for the Internet of So= unds&quot;=C2=A0=C2=A0</b></div><div style=3D"text-align:center"><b>EURASIP= Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Processing</b><br></div><div><br></div= ><div style=3D"text-align:center"><b><font color=3D"#0000ff"><a href=3D"htt= ps://www.springeropen.com/collections/spios" target=3D"_blank">https://www.= springeropen.com/collections/spios</a></font></b><br></div><div><br></div><= div style=3D"text-align:center">Submission Deadline: 11 June 2025<br></div>= <div><font face=3D"arial, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><font face=3D"a= rial, sans-serif"><br></font></div><div><p style=3D"margin:0px 0px 1.5em;bo= x-sizing:inherit;padding:0px;color:rgb(51,51,51);background-color:rgb(252,2= 52,252)"><font face=3D"arial, sans-serif"><em style=3D"margin:0px;box-sizin= g:inherit"><a href=3D"https://asmp-eurasipjournals.springeropen.com/" style= =3D"color:rgb(0,75,131);margin:0px;box-sizing:inherit;background-color:tran= sparent" target=3D"_blank">EURASIP Journal on Audio, Speech, and Music Proc= essing</a></em>=C2=A0is calling for submissions to our Collection on Signal= Processing for the Internet of Sounds.=C2=A0In recent years there has been= an increasing interest in academia and industry about topics at the conflu= ence of Internet of Things and Sound and Music Computing.
