We anticipate hiring one or two postdoctoral research fellows to work on pr= ojects investigating how the human brain encodes complex and natural stimul= i (especially speech), and how that encoding is affected by attention, pred= iction, and multisensory input. Much of the work will focus on modelling br= ain responses to such stimuli in healthy, neurotypical adults - including m= odelling how the human brain processes linguistic meaning. However, there w= ill also be opportunities to carry out research involving patients with sch= izophrenia and adolescents/young adults with a diagnosis of autism. The research fellow(s) will work as part of a multidisciplinary team includ= ing PIs, postdoctoral researchers and PhD/MSc students in both Engineering = and Neuroscience through the Hajim School of Engineering, the Department of= Neuroscience, and the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience at the Universi= ty of Rochester Medical Center. Candidates should have a PhD in either: a) Psychology, Neuroscience or a re= lated discipline with experience in the use of computational methods to ana= lyze neural signals (or at least a strong motivation to learn), or b) Engin= eering, Computer Science or a related discipline with a keen interest in ne= uroscience. We also anticipate hiring one or two research technicians to support some o= f the research themes mentioned above. The ideal candidate would have a bac= kground in Engineering, Cognitive Neuroscience, Computer Science, or Psycho= logy (e.g., a Bachelor's degree). They will have excellent interpersonal an= d organizational skills. Experience managing a lab will be a decided advant= age. As will experience with EEG data collection. Experience with MATLAB an= d Python and an ability to analyze data would be beneficial. For informal inquiries, please contact Dr. Edmund Lalor at elalor@xxxxxxxx= ter.edu<mailto:elalor@xxxxxxxx>. To apply for either a postdoctoral= or research technician position, please submit a CV, short cover letter an= d contact information for two referees to Dr Edmund Lalor at elalor@xxxxxxxx= ester.edu<mailto:elalor@xxxxxxxx>.
