If selected, the candidate will work under the mentorsh= ip of Drs. Program Overview This opportunity is part of the Postdoctoral Training Program in Intellectu= al and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Research at the Waisman Center. App= ointments will be for two years, beginning in the summer of 2025. The progr= am provides multidisciplinary training with an emphasis on social-affective= processes, communication, family processes, epidemiology, genetics, and bi= obehavioral research on IDD, including hearing loss. Eligibility NIH requires that trainees in this program be U.S. citizens, non-citizen na= tionals, or permanent residents of the United States. Unfortunately, indivi= duals on temporary or student visas are not eligible. Research Focus Dr. Litovsky and Dr. Benitez-Barrera focus on understanding auditory develo= pment and speech perception in noise among children with hearing difficulti= es. Their research employs behavioral and electrophysiology (i.e., EEG) mea= sures to explore these processes in depth. Candidate Requirements We seek highly motivated candidates who have recently graduated with a Ph.D= . in hearing and speech sciences, audiology, neuroscience, biomedical engin= eering, or a related field. The ideal candidate will possess: - Strong communication and teamwork skills - Programming experience - Background in EEG analyses - Research experience in pediatric hearing The fellow will have the opportunity to build upon current projects in the = lab(s), with the goal of developing an independent line of research. The fe= llow will have an appointment at the Waisman Center, which offers a rich in= tellectual and scientific environment, as well as the necessary infrastruct= ure to conduct the proposed research.
