The Audio Experience Design group<https://www.axdesign.co.uk/> includes res= earchers and projects in areas related with both the physical and the perce= ptual natures of audio, with particular focus on sonic interaction and user= experience, as well as on real-life applications. Our main areas of resear= ch are: * Spatial hearing and binaural audio * Hearing science and hearing devices * Autonomous ecoacoustic monitoring Huawei's Munich Research Center is responsible for advanced technology rese= arch, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of Huawei= products. The Audiovisual Technology Lab in Huawei=92s Munich Research Cen= ter<https://huaweiresearchcentergermanyaustria.teamtailor.com/departments/a= udiovisual-technology-laboratory> develops signal processing and machine le= arning solutions applied to audio, music and speech with the goal to enrich= the audio experiences for millions of customers. The activities specifically associated with this post are to: * Design and develop immersive audio experiments, specifically on spatial hea= ring perception, HRTF evaluation and selection, and speech perception withi= n AR/VR environments * Design and develop immersive audio-visual tools and applications, both head= phones and loudspeaker-based, using off-the-shelf and custom equipment * Integrate machine learning techniques and approaches to immersive audio too= ls and applications, e.g. inferring room acoustics from spatially captured = audiovisual data in an AR/VR context * Perform data analysis on behavioural measurements using advanced statistica= l techniques (electrophysiological and pupillometry measurements might be e= mployed as well) * Publish the research outputs in national and international conferences and = high-impact journals The successful candidate will enrol as PhD student at Imperial College Lond= on and as a working student at Huawei in Munich, where they will be spendin= g the majority of their time.
