Application link: https://jobs.wisc.edu/jobs/audiology-researcher-madison-w= isconsin-united-states Deadline for applications: 12/31/2023 Job Summary: The Binaural Hearing and Speech Laboratory at the Waisman Center (PI: Ruth = Litovsky) studies binaural hearing in persons who have typical hearing and = in persons who are deaf and use cochlear implants (CIs). In addition, indiv= iduals with Down Syndrome are studied to understand the association between= hearing loss, cognition, language and brain function and structure. The Au= diology Researcher will work closely with the Binaural Hearing and Speech L= aboratory's research team consisting of the Principal Investigator, Researc= h Program Coordinator, research staff, graduate students, and undergraduate= students. The Audiology Researcher will provide technical expertise in running experi= ments including speech understanding, sound localization, binaural hearing,= eye tracking, EEG and cognitive measures. They will work with members of t= he lab to collect data, document results and assist with publication. They = will be responsible for downloading cochlear implant maps and creating maps= using lab-use-only processors. The Audiology Researcher will assist and tr= ain staff with fitting hearing aids used for research purposes. Additionall= y, they will work closely with research staff on updating IRB protocols as = well as data deidentification and preparation of data for analysis. Qualified candidates will have the following required experiences: Training experience in the areas listed below will be considered. - Six months to 1 year of experience in hearing research. - First-hand experience in assessing hearing loss. - Experience fitting hearing aids and/or cochlear implants. - Experience conducting hearing screenings and hearing evaluations. - Experience using standard audiometric equipment (e.g. audiometers, tympa= nometers, and sound level meters).
