Using an interdisciplinary approach, the lab is currently focused on investigating the (1) factors that promote/hinder auditory processing (e.g., linguistic experience, bilingualism, etc.); (2) physiological and electrophysiological aspects related to sound processing in the auditory system; and (3) development of tools for efficient testing and intervention of auditory processing disorders/listening difficulties. More information about our work can be obtained at https://sites.hofstra.edu/hearingbrain/ (New lab website at UConn is under construction) Applications will be considered from prospective students with background in Audiology, Linguistics, Psychology, Computer Science, Biomedical Science, and/or related disciplines who are interested in studying auditory processing from an interdisciplinary perspective. The prospective PhD student should be willing to learn new techniques for data collection and analyses. Experience with EEG/AEP, and coding using matlab/python is desirable. The lab has a strong commitment to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion mission of the department and the University. Students from underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply. More about the DEI mission of the department is here: https://speech-language-hearing.uconn.edu/diversity-equity-inclusion/ The lab is located at the UConn Storrs campus that offers a serene environment away from the busy city life but also not too far in distance from New York City.
