PhD Thesis Project: The EMA methodology involves collecting real-time data = from individuals in their natural environments, often utilizing electronic = devices like smartphones or wearable sensors. An innovative extension of th= is approach, known as "Dyadic EMA," simultaneously gathers data from both m= embers of a dyad, such as hearing aid users and their significant others (S= Os). Given the pivotal role of SOs in audiological rehabilitation, Dyadic E= MA holds great potential in enhancing the success of hearing aids. This PhD= project encompasses a series of studies aimed at assessing the feasibility= of implementing Dyadic EMA with older hearing aid users and their SOs, inv= estigating if Dyadic EMA effectively captures the benefits of hearing aids = and features, and exploring its potential to improve the hearing aid fittin= g process and facilitate hearing aid overall success. We are seeking a candidate with a solid foundation in audiology and experti= se in hearing aid technology. A passion for interdisciplinary work, along w= ith proficiency in handling technically complex setups, is highly valued. C= linical experience in hearing aid fitting is highly desirable. This PhD pos= ition is jointly funded by the Department of Communication Sciences and Dis= orders, University of Iowa, and WSAudiology. The project will be supervised= by Yu-Hsiang Wu, MD, PhD. To apply, visit: https://grad.admissions.uiowa.edu/academics/speech-hearing= -science-phd. For any inquiries regarding the application process, please c= ontact Tiffany Hill at speech-path-aud@xxxxxxxx<mailto:speech-path-aud@xxxxxxxx= wa.edu>. The application deadline is January 15, 2024. In your Research Sta= tement, please indicate your interest in the Dyadic EMA project.
