--000000000000fbdca40608350cd6 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Dear list, The Medical Physics Group at the Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics, University of Oldenburg, Germany, seeks, as soon as possible, a motivated PhD student (75 % of full time TV-L 13 position, 3 years, m/f/d) in the field of virtual acoustics and psychoacoustics in complex acoustic environments This project conducts research towards improving virtual acoustics and a better understanding of auditory perception in complex acoustic environments. The goal is to develop and improve immersive realistic virtual acoustic and audio-visual environments as well as novel techniques for auditory experiments in such environments. The here developed techniques should provide a tool for ecologically valid evaluation of hearing devices and auditory perception. The applicant will 1) develop and extent existing methods to render realistic scenes including (room) acoustics simulation, 2) design and perform acoustic measurements in real spaces and psychoacoustic experiments with headphones and in a three-dimensional loudspeaker array, 3) publish in English-language scientific journals and present at international conferences. The project is funded by the DFG collaborative research centre CRC1330 Hearing Acoustics, which aims at a better understanding of human acoustic communication and is a long-term collaboration of researchers from Oldenburg, Aachen and Munich. For more information about the CRC see https://uol.de/sfb1330. The opportunity for a personal scientific qualification (doctorate thesis) will be given. The Medical Physics group is part of the Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics and offers an international scientific environment as well as access to world-class research facilities. For more information about the group and the department see https://www.uol.de/medi/ and https://www.uni-oldenburg.de/en/mediphysics-acoustics/. Applicants for the position must hold an academic university degree (master or equivalent) in physics, electrical or audio engineering, computer science, hearing technology & audiology, or a related discipline. Applicants should have solid knowledge in at least one of the following fields: - Virtual acoustics - Psychoacoustics and experimental design - Acoustics and audio technology - Speech and audio signal processing A strong interest in interdisciplinary application-oriented work, familiarity with scientific tools and programming languages such as MATLAB and C/C++, and ideally computer game engines, e.g., Unreal Engine, as well as good spoken and written English language skills are expected. Furthermore, given the required interaction with German speaking volunteers in the listening test, candidates should have at least basic German language skills and should be able to improve them during the first 6 months. The University of Oldenburg aims to increase the proportion of women in the academic field. Therefore, women are strongly encouraged to apply. According to =C2=A7 21 para. 3 NHG, female applicants should be given preferential consideration if their qualifications are equivalent. Applicants with disabilities will be given preference in case of equal qualification. Applications including a CV, a motivation letter, copies of the most important certificates and the name and contact details of at least one person who is willing to give a reference should be sent as a single pdf-file (preferred) to stephan.ewert@xxxxxxxx or to PD Dr. Stephan Ewert Faculty VI Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics Universit=C3=A4t Oldenburg D - 26111 Oldenburg Tel. (+49) 441 798 3900 The application deadline is 05.11.2023. Regulations prohibit reimbursement of application and interview expenses. For further information please contact Stephan Ewert (stephan.ewert@xxxxxxxx)= .
