A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the lab of Dr. Julie Arenber= g with a focus cochlear implant psychophysics, physiology, and programming = in children and adults. We study hearing and speech perception in children = and adults, many of whom have cochlear implants. We also measure evoked pot= entials and develop computational models of the interface between cochlear = implants and the target auditory neurons. We compare physiological and per= ceptual measures between early implanted children and post-linguistically d= eafened adults. Future work will explore auditory development, plasticity = and training in cochlear implant listeners. Our primary goal is to better u= nderstand the auditory system as it has likely been altered by etiology, ex= perience and the cochlear implant itself. We integrate underlying neuroscie= nce principles with the practice of clinical audiology. We are seeking highly motivated candidates who recently graduated with a Ph= D in hearing science, audiology, neuroscience, or biomedical engineering. T= he candidate should have strong communication skills, some programming expe= rience and the ability to work in a team. The fellow will have an appointm= ent at Massachusetts Eye and Ear (MEE) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). ME= E and HMS provide rich intellectual and scientific environments and the nec= essary infrastructure to carry out the proposed research. Training and car= eer development are a priority. Interested applicants should email their CV, names of 3 references and cove= r letter to Julie_Arenberg@xxxxxxxx Sincerely, Julie _________________________________ Julie G.
