Eldr=E9 is a lecturer in audiology wit= h expertise in auditory pathologies and intervention development. She is a = clinical scientist in Audiology at the Anglia Ruskin University. Details ca= n be found below: Title: "The wider impact of tinnitus and tinnitus interventions on significant oth= ers" Outline: Although chronic conditions could cause third-party disability for signific= ant others, little is known regarding the impact of tinnitus on significant= others. Significant others are furthermore not often included during tinni= tus interventions. This talk outlines research that has been undertaken loo= king at the wider impact of tinnitus and predictors of this impact. It also= outlines the indirect effect of a tinnitus intervention for individuals wi= th tinnitus on third-party disability for significant others. The talk disc= usses research regarding a novel shared intervention that includes signific= ant others and how this can mitigate the negative effects tinnitus may have. Bio: Eldr=E9 Beukes, is a clinical scientist in audiology and a senior lecturer = at Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge. She received her PhD for research r= egarding the development and evaluation of an Internet-based intervention f= or tinnitus. She was awarded the Richard May prize (2009), the Shapiro priz= e (2017-2019), and the Hallpike Research Prize in 2019. Her research involv= es improving outcomes for people with hearing-related difficulties by devel= oping accessible and evidence-based care models. She has published more tha= n 60 peer-reviewed manuscripts and authored two textbooks.
