Required qualifications: * Recent Ph.D. in hearing science, audiology or a related field (e.g., psyc= hology, neuroscience, engineering) with specialization in hearing aids * Salary: Commensurate with experience Duties and responsibilities of the position include: a) work with Principal= Investigators Patrick Feeney and Curtis Billings on a two-year, full-time = funded position investigating the relationship between spectro-temporal mod= ulation detection and hearing aid performance; b) manage all aspects of stu= dy including IRB documentation, data collection, data analysis, publishing = results of study; and c) present abstracts and papers at regional, national= and international scientific conferences and meetings. Opportunities exist for subsequent VA career-development funding. NCRAR: The NCRAR is housed within a dedicated 20,000 sq. ft. research facil= ity located at the VA Portland Health Care System, and includes ten double-= wall sound-attenuation suites, a large anechoic chamber, and balance labora= tories. Continuously funded since 1997, NCRAR is one of thirteen national C= enters funded by the VA Rehabilitation Research and Development Service, bu= t the only such Center dedicated to the discovery and delivery of cutting-e= dge solutions to auditory system impairments and balance dysfunction. NCRAR= rehabilitation researchers effectively leverage the Center's substantial i= nfrastructure of shared equipment and facilities resources, biostatistics, = engineering and research administration support services to compete for inv= estigator-initiated, peer-reviewed research funding. NCRAR carries out clin= ical trials, develops technologies, and plays an important role in cultivat= ing the next generation of auditory researchers through education and mento= ring programs. The Center is closely allied with the Oregon Health & Scienc= e University Departments of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, Bioengineer= ing, Neurology, and Psychiatry.
