This project will use EEG and multivariate analysis methods to investig= ate the neural plasticity supporting perceptual learning of speech. The PhD= student will be based in the School of Psychology and have the opportunity= to interact with vibrant Sussex research communities that include (1) the = Centre for Sensory Neuroscience and Computation, bringing together neurosci= entists and modelers interested in sensory systems, and (2) neuroimaging re= searchers centred around the Clinical Imaging Sciences Centre. They will al= so have the opportunity to interact with project collaborator, Dr. Edmund L= alor (University of Rochester, USA). The successful applicant will be awarded a stipend for 3 years (tied to the= UKRI studentship rates, currently =A315,609 per year). UK tuition fees and= research/training costs are also covered. Closing date for applications: April 4th Eligibility: -This award will only pay tuition fees at the Home/UK rate. -Candidates must have, or expect to obtain, a First or a high Upper Second = Class Honours undergraduate degree, or equivalent qualification, and/or a M= erit (an average of 60% overall) in a Master=92s degree in Psychology or ot= her relevant discipline (e.g. Neuroscience, Engineering, Computer Science). -Previous experience of computer programming, functional brain imaging (EEG= , fMRI) or signal processing is desirable. For informal discussion, please email Dr. Ediz Sohoglu (E.Sohoglu@xxxxxxxx= .uk<mailto:E.Sohoglu@xxxxxxxx>).
