A short description is included below, the full v= acancy and details regarding applying are listed here: https://www.lumc.nl/= over-het-lumc/werken-bij/overzicht/PhD-kandidaat-KNO-AI-technieken?setlangu= age=3DEnglish&setcountry=3Den. Best wishes, Marcel van Gerven The department of Ear, Nose and Throat surgery is looking for an enthusiast= ic PhD candidate with machine learning experience. Within this study you wi= ll focus on people with a cochlear implant. Are you the candidate we are lo= oking for? You will develop methods for signal processing to tackle the problems that = cochlear implant (CI, electrical inner ear prosthesis) users face in their = daily lives. Even though CIs are extremely helpful tools for people with se= vere-to-profound hearing loss, their help is drastically limited in noisy e= nvironments, such as workplaces and classrooms. To address this limitation,= you will develop advanced and personalized machine learning solutions for = fundamental problems such as sound source localization and noise reduction = in ecologically valid settings. This project is a close collaboration betwe= en the Radboud University and LUMC. It will be supervised by Prof. van Gerv= en (RU), Dr. G=FC=E7l=FCt=FCrk (RU), Prof. Frijns (LUMC) and Dr. Briaire (L= UMC). You will be employed by the Centre for Audiology and Hearing Implants= at the LUMC, but you will also be affiliated with and spend most of your t= ime at the Artificial Intelligence department of the Donders Institute for = Brain, Cognition and Behaviour in Nijmegen. As part of the NWO Crossover IN= TENSE consortium, you will have the opportunity to collaborate and interact= with renowned experts and industry representatives from all branches of ne= urotechnology. You will also benefit from the extensive training program of= the Donders Graduate School and the special career development programs of= the INTENSE consortium. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to sup= ervise MSc and BSc students in their (honours) thesis projects and gain tea= ching experience in related topics. --_000_55bbbbcf7c4348c1abb69caa79b5eef1EXPRD07hostingrunl_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="Windows-1252" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-micr= osoft-com:office:office" xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns:m=3D"http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml" xmlns=3D"http:= //www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"> <head> <meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html; charset=3DWindows-1= 252"> <meta name=3D"Generator" content=3D"Microsoft Word 15 (filtered medium)"> <style><!-- /* Font Definitions */ @xxxxxxxx {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4;} @xxxxxxxx {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {mso-style-priority:99; color:#0563C1; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {mso-style-priority:99; color:#954F72; text-decoration:underline;} p.msonormal0, li.msonormal0, div.msonormal0 {mso-style-name:msonormal; mso-margin-top-alt:auto; margin-right:0cm; mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto; margin-left:0cm; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman",serif;} span.EmailStyle18 {mso-style-type:personal-reply; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; color:#1F497D;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} @xxxxxxxx WordSection1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:70.85pt 70.85pt 70.85pt 70.85pt;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --></style><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapedefaults v:ext=3D"edit" spidmax=3D"1026" /> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapelayout v:ext=3D"edit"> <o:idmap v:ext=3D"edit" data=3D"1" /> </o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--> </head> <body lang=3D"NL" link=3D"#0563C1" vlink=3D"#954F72"> <div class=3D"WordSection1"> <p class=3D"MsoNormal"><span lang=3D"EN-US">Dear all,<o:p></o:p></span></p> <p class=3D"MsoNormal"><span lang=3D"EN-US"><o:p>&nbsp;</o:p></span></p> <p class=3D"MsoNormal"><span lang=3D"EN-US">There is a PhD position availab= le at Radboud University and Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC).
