Since I don't have the luxury of running a loudness-matc= hing preliminary experiment, my idea was to calibrate the loudness levels o= f my stimulus set (measured in sones using Psysound3) to a reference sound.= I would then ask participants at the beginning of the experiment to adjust= the volume on their playback device until the reference sound was barely a= udible. Sounds in the stimulus set would then be adjusted to a given sound = level in sones relative to the reference sound. However, I don't have a ref= erence sound handy. Could anyone point me to a candidate reference sound th= at could serve this function in my experiment? (Fyi, the stimulus set consi= sts of environmental sounds exported from freesound.org.) I'd greatly appreciate any and all responses off list. Thanks a bunch. David __________________________________ David R. W.
