This collection will explore the many faceted science of sound: ho= w humankind and other animals perceive it, its many uses, and the problems = it can bring to us and the environment. More details can be found at: https://kids.frontiersin.org/collection/17985/a-world-of-sound The deadline for abstracts is 8th Jan 2021. Submission is via the link abov= e. Frontiers for Young Minds is a Frontiers group journal, which publishes "Sc= ience for kids, edited by Kids", and aimed at an audience of ages 8-15. Mor= e details can be found here: https://kids.frontiersin.org/about/journal/. This is a great opportunity to communicate your work a worldwide audience, = to encourage kids into science, and also create a high accessible and profe= ssionally presented description of your work and field. From the abstracts submitted, 15-20 will be selected on the basis of the ab= stract quality and likely appeal to a young audience. The authors invited t= o submit a complete (but short) article by 1st May 2021. Articles will be o= pen-access and published free (yes, free!) of charge. We will be seeking a balanced representation of topics across all of acoust= ics, including (but not limited to): * Aeroacoustics * Ultrasonics, * Bon-destructive evaluation, * Bioacoustics, * Biomedical acoustics, * Hearing/cognition/communication, * Noise/soundscapes/room acoustics, * Metamaterials, * Mathematical/computational acoustics, * Underwater acoustics, * Vibroacoustics. Note that articles must be associated one of the topic areas at FfYM, artic= les must fit within one of the following areas: Biodiversity, Health, Mathe= matics and Neuroscience. We are nevertheless encouraging articles about aco= ustics in engineering, but please bear in mind that submissions will news t= o be in one of the above categories. Although the editorial team and networ= k are UK based we welcome submissions globally. The FfYM website contains lots of useful information about how the journal = works, writing for a young audience. If you have any questions, feel free t= o get in contact with the collection editors. Kind regards, Chris, Francesco, Naomi, Gianluca and Charlotte.
