S3D = <https://steinhardt.nyu.edu/marl/research/projects/s3d-spatial-sound-scene= -description> is a new initiative, funded by the National Science = Foundation, that aims to develop computational approaches to describe = sound sources in real environments by their category (e.g. dog, truck), = location, direction of motion and speed. Our approach mixes innovative = data collection and machine listening solutions including probabilistic = synthesis, multi-modal annotation, self-supervised representation = learning and structured classification. The duties of the postdoctoral associate include:=20 (a) Research and development on novel single and multi-modal = self-supervised learning strategies for audio;=20 (b) Research and development on sound source classification, = localization and tracking;=20 (c) Leading research teams and mentoring students;=20 (d) Disseminating research outcomes through publications, presentations, = data and code repositories;=20 (e) Active contribution to open code/data efforts in the lab;=20 (f) Contribution to the development of new projects, partnerships and = grants.
