--000000000000dd834b059ff5c290 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" A full-time postdoctoral position is available at the University of Minnesota to work with Dr. Matthew Winn and his collaborators on topics related to speech perception, hearing impairment, and listening effort. This 2-year position is supported by funding from the National Institutes of Health R01 DC017114. We aim to design studies that combine auditory science, linguistics, and input from people who have hearing loss. Applications are welcome from energetic and motivated scholars who have familiarity with audiology, and have expertise in related fields such as linguistics, hearing science, psychology, physiology, cognition, or engineering. It is essential to demonstrate awareness of the needs of individuals who are older and/or who have hearing impairment. Candidates must have completed a doctoral degree at the time the position would begin. Prior familiarity with the specific research topics is less important than clearly articulated goals for the position, good communication skills, positive attitude, and complementary technical expertise. Experience with data collection and statistical modeling of physiological data (especially time-series analysis) is an attractive skill for this position. Fluency with programming languages is very valuable for this position (in order of importance: R, Python, Matlab, Praat). Commitment to good data management is essential. The candidate is expected to contribute her/his skills to the rest of the group, in terms of scientific advisement, mentorship, and writing, toward the goal of gaining independence as a leader. Mentorship in grant writing will be available for candidates who wish to seek independent funding. Salary is commensurate with NIH and University post-doctoral stipend levels. The position is housed within the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences on the flagship campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, MN. The Department has a collegial and supportive atmosphere, with strong relationships with auditory and vision scientists at the department of Psychology and the Center for Applied and Translational Sensory Science (CATSS; http://catss.umn.edu/). We also host a competitive graduate program in Audiology, which contributes students to the lab. Please send applications or inquiries to Matthew Winn at mwinn@xxxxxxxx Applications should include a cover letter stating research interests and career goals, a current CV or biosketch, and contact information for two references. It is also possible to meet at the upcoming meetings of the American Auditory Society and the Acoustical Society of America. Application review begins in Spring 2020 and will continue until the position is filled. The successful candidate can start as early as Summer 2020, and starting date is negotiable. The University of Minnesota is an Affirmative Action, Equal Opportunity Employer. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply. Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States. -- Matthew Winn Assistant Professor Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences University of Minnesota --000000000000dd834b059ff5c290 Content-Type: text/html; charset="UTF-8" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <div dir=3D"ltr"><p class=3D"MsoNormal" style=3D"margin:0in 0in 0.0001pt;li= ne-height:normal;background-image:initial;background-position:initial;backg= round-size:initial;background-repeat:initial;background-origin:initial;back= ground-clip:initial;font-size:11pt;font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span st= yle=3D"font-size:12pt;font-family:Arial,sans-serif">A full-time postdoctoral position is available at the University of Minnesota to work w= ith Dr. Matthew Winn and his collaborators on topics related to speech percepti= on, hearing impairment, and listening effort.
