The post-holder will be expected= to work on the "Hearing and Language Outcomes" (HALO) study, a longitudina= l cohort study looking at outcomes in primary-school-aged children with mil= d to profound sensorineural hearing loss. The post-holder will assist in th= e design and running of the study, which will involve psychophysical and ps= ychometric testing, along with obtaining clinical and academic measures fro= m health and education providers. In addition, the post-holder will be invo= lved in the analysis and write up of the results for publication. The post = is available on a full-time basis for 48 months in the first instance, and = cases for part-time working will be considered. The project is funded by an= MRC Senior Fellowship in Hearing Research awarded to Dr Lorna Halliday. Qualifications The successful candidate will have, or be in the final stages of completing= , a PhD or equivalent research doctorate in Psychology, Audiology, Cognitiv= e Neuroscience, or a related discipline. Experience of auditory psychophysi= cs, cognitive testing, and/or audiology is essential, as is an interest in = auditory perception, language, and hearing research. The post-holder should= be highly considerate of the research participants, their families, and th= e educational and healthcare teams supporting the children and their famili= es. They should have excellent interpersonal skills as well as the ability = to work well within a multidisciplinary environment. Experience of working = with children is highly desirable. Our research investigates fundamental human cognitive proce= sses such as attention, language, memory, and emotion, and does so using a = combination of behavioural experiments, neuroimaging, and computer modellin= g.
