The post.doc. will be employed at the Faculty of Hea= lth and Medical Sciences but will be working in close collaboration with Ph= .D. students at Odense University Hospital, ENT - Department of Audiology a= nd University of Southern Denmark. The position is available as of 1st Febr= uary 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. Job description The University of Southern Denmark, Department of Clinical Research is offe= ring a post.doc position for the project Better Hearing Rehabilitation (BEA= R). The BEAR project is funded by Innovation Fund Denmark and the hearing a= id companies Widex, GN Resound and Oticon and is carried out in collaborati= on with Odense University Hospital, Aalborg University, Aalborg University = Hospital, Rigshospitalet, Technical University of Denmark, the hearing aid = companies Widex, GN Resound and Oticon as well as Delta. The aim of the post.doc study is to analyze data from a large cohort of 200= 0 patients who have received hearing aid treatment as a part of the BEAR st= udy. The purpose of the data analysis is to characterize different archetyp= es of hearing aid users based on differences in hearing thresholds and spee= ch discrimination as well as on subjective parameters. Subjective parameter= s are changes reported in the Speech and Spatial Questionnaire (SSQ) after = hearing aid treatment compared to the SSQ before hearing aid treatment. Add= itional factors such as user satisfaction with the hearing aid, hearing aid= type, real ear measurements and general health data can be included in thi= s analysis as well. Furthermore, there will be collected new data in a randomized controlled st= udy of patients evaluated for hearing rehabilitation. Patients will be rand= omized to either the existing evaluation strategy which is explored in the = large cohort of 2000 patients and a new hearing profile strategy, where pat= ients will receive hearing aids that will be fitted based on other paramete= rs than just the audiogram. The post.doc. will collaborate with the Ph.D. students currently analyzing = data from the cohort as well as Ph.D. students involved in the randomized c= ontrolled trial or projects related to that. As part of the BEAR project, the post.doc. has the potential to contribute= to the way in which we examine hearing losses in Danish clinical practice = in the future. The project may also have an international impact. The overall aim of the BEAR project is to develop and evaluate methods for = future investigation of hearing-impaired patients and to develop methods fo= r objective categorization of the effect of the treatment with hearing aids= .
