We are inviting proposals for symposia on topics or themes relevant to tinn= itus or hyperacusis. A symposium typically gathers between 4-6 speakers and= provides a well-integrated synthesis of information on a given theme. It c= an be structured as a series of formal talks or a moderated panel discussio= n which can allow for greater audience participation. A series of symposia = will be held concurrently with the regular podium sessions and will each be= allocated a time of 1 or 2 hours The key differences between a regular podium session and a symposium are: * =95 the topics are proposed and organized by the participants rather = than by the program committee * =95 the talks are grouped by theme and not just a collection of prese= ntations * =95 A minimum of 5 talks related to the same topic are required to cr= eate a session, with some flexibility on the unfolding of the discussion wi= thin a symposium * =95 To promote diversity, no more than two presentations from any one= lab should be included in a session We particularly invite Young Investigators to submit symposia proposals. Th= e Young Investigator Symposia are restricted to junior investigators: Assis= tant Professors, Faculty < 5 years, and Post-docs. Time slots will be reser= ved for the Young Investigators symposia. The abstracts submitted as part of a symposium will not differ from the abs= tracts normally submitted for the annual meeting. However, earlier submissi= on will allow for designation of these presentations separate from the regu= lar podium sessions. If your symposium is accepted you will still be requir= ed to submit your abstract through the TRI website by the regular deadline = but we will specially designate these abstracts after submission so they ar= e grouped together. We will also ask you to name two alterna= te contacts. We will provide meeting space and onsite logistical support for all symposi= a. However, the conference is not able to provide any travel or accommodati= on assistance, registration subsidies or waivers, or any other forms of sup= port for the organizers or individual speakers named in any of the proposal= s. All participants will be required to register and pay for the conference= and to cover their own travel expenses. Symposium organizers are responsible for serving as the primary point of co= ntact with their invited speakers throughout the planning process.
