However, we need to upg= rade our computers, and PCI is no longer a option. I know Hammerfall makes= the HDSPe AIO, which is the equivalent sound card for PCI express, but it = is pretty expensive (about $900 USD) considering we need 6 of them. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what sound cards are good these= days. I know USB sound cards are an option, but are there major downsides= to those, like increased latency these days? Would PCI express be better = in this regard? Too much latency will be an issue since we need to track u= ser responses' to what they hear. To be a bit more specific about our needs, we need at least two channels of= analog input and out least two channels (ideally four or more) of analog o= utput. We also need ASIO support (these will be used on Windows 10), and a= wide dynamic range is important. Digital I/O and high sampling rate are n= ot important. The computers support USB 2, USB 3, and PCI express. Thank you very much for your help! Sincerely, Todd --_000_BN8PR03MB47716E9EFBC134938561B921C6EE0BN8PR03MB4771namp_ Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html> <head> <meta http-equiv=3D"Content-Type" content=3D"text/html; charset=3Dus-ascii"= > <style type=3D"text/css" style=3D"display:none;"> P {margin-top:0;margin-bo= ttom:0;} </style> </head> <body dir=3D"ltr"> <div style=3D"font-family: Calibri, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size= : 12pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"> Thank you all for your suggestions!&nbsp; I really appreciate it.<br> </div> <div id=3D"appendonsend"></div> <hr style=3D"display:inline-block;width:98%" tabindex=3D"-1"> <div id=3D"divRplyFwdMsg" dir=3D"ltr"><font face=3D"Calibri, sans-serif" st= yle=3D"font-size:11pt" color=3D"#000000"><b>From:</b> Jennings, Todd Richar= dson<br> <b>Sent:</b> Tuesday, June 4, 2019 17:31<br> <b>To:</b> AUDITORY@xxxxxxxx<br> <b>Subject:</b> Replacement for Hammerfall DSP 9632 sound card</font> <div>&nbsp;</div> </div> <div class=3D"BodyFragment"><font size=3D"2"><span style=3D"font-size:11pt;= "> <div class=3D"PlainText">Dear list,<br> <br> My lab has been using the Hammerfall DSP 9632 PCI sound card for each of ou= r 6 sound-proof booths for psychophysics research.&nbsp; However, we need t= o upgrade our computers, and PCI is no longer a option.&nbsp; I know Hammer= fall makes the HDSPe AIO, which is the equivalent sound card for PCI express, but it is pretty expensive (about $900 USD) co= nsidering we need 6 of them.<br> <br> I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what sound cards are good these= days.&nbsp; I know USB sound cards are an option, but are there major down= sides to those, like increased latency these days?&nbsp; Would PCI express = be better in this regard?&nbsp; Too much latency will be an issue since we need to track user responses' to what they hear.= <br> <br> To be a bit more specific about our needs, we need at least two channels of= analog input and out least two channels (ideally four or more) of analog o= utput.&nbsp; We also need ASIO support (these will be used on Windows 10), = and a wide dynamic range is important.&nbsp; Digital I/O and high sampling rate are not important.&nbsp; The computers = support USB 2, USB 3, and PCI express.&nbsp; <br> <br> Thank you very much for your help!<br> <br> Sincerely,<br> Todd<br> </div> </span></font></div> </body> </html> --_000_BN8PR03MB47716E9EFBC134938561B921C6EE0BN8PR03MB4771namp_--
