I have tested the ASUS Xonar U7 (about $100), which has 2 inputs and 8 outputs. It has excellent signal/noise, distortion, and frequency response. See my "USB Sound Card Performance Tests" at <http://www.daqarta.com/dw_gguu.htm>. I have not tested for latency using ASIO, since I am more interested in zero latency (for evoked potentials such as ABR), which is better achieved by other means. I have a few quibbles about the hardware controls and connections which I discuss in the test report, but overall I give it top marks for performance.
