My colleagues= want to collect language samples that can accurately analyze fundamental fr= equency, pitch range, and other acoustic properties. They are looking to pur= chase a microphone, pre-amp, and decibel meter that work well in tandem. Fur= thermore, the microphone must meet these guidelines at the minimum: =20 * There should be a flat frequency response (i.e., variation of less than 2 d= B) across the frequency range between the lowest expected f0 of voice and th= e highest spectral component of interest (approximately 50=E2=80=938000 Hz) =20 * Noise level should be at least 15 dB lower than the sound level of the qui= etest vocal sound =20 * The upper limit of the dynamic range should be above the sound level of th= e loudest phonations (i.e., can record the loudest voice production without s= aturation/clipping) =20 *Head-mounted, omnidirectional condenser microphone =20 Evidence that guided the criteria above: 1.
