Dear all, (Apologies for cross-postings) We are pleased to advertise a new lectureship position at the University of Edinburgh. The new role, based in the Reid School of Music, is in Creative Audio Programming and Computer Music Systems. The closing date for applications is 5pm (GMT) 12th March, 2018. Candidates will have a demonstrable research and teaching expertise in any area of audio programming or computer music systems, with an emphasis on low-level audio programming and/or scripting skills (C++/C Sharp/Python), which will help prepare students both for further study in music technology or success in the industrial audio engineering/ creative music technology sector. The successful applicant will have a PhD in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Computer Music, or Music Technology and will have an outstanding research profile in one or more of areas such as audio programming, game audio, machine learning, physical computing, computational creativity, digital luthiery new musical forms, and app development, with the ability to produce exceptional research outputs and attract significant external funding. The appointee will contribute to the development of computer music and audio engineering teaching at first and second-year level; they will deliver specialised courses at honours level, and they will lead the development of new courses for the MSc in Sound Design and the MSc in Acoustics and Music Technology. The appointee will supervise undergraduate and postgraduate dissertations, and will be expected to make a major contribution to the recruitment and supervision of PhD students in the School. We would be particularly interested in candidates whose research reflects the multidisciplinary ethos of the Edinburgh College of Art, of which the Reid School of Music is part, and who are able to engage with the wider university through related disciplines, such as Informatics, Mathematics, and Physics.
