The responsibilities of the role are to investigate, develop and=20 evaluate novel digital signal processing and machine learning=20 technologies for context-aware sound recognition, applied to continuous=20 audio streams in urban, nature and domestic environments. The work will=20 include integrating audio-based context recognition with sound=20 recognition methods, developing a research software framework and=20 creating real and simulated datasets for context-aware sound recognition=20 in complex acoustic environments. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in Computer Science,=20 Electrical/Electronic Engineering or in a relevant field, with research=20 experience in one or more of the following areas: Digital Signal=20 Processing, Machine Learning, Audio/Acoustics, Music Information=20 Retrieval or equivalent. The candidate will have a strong research track=20 record with publications in high-quality journals and conference=20 proceedings. Research experience in audio signal processing and/or=20 computational sound scene analysis is desirable. The successful=20 candidate will have programming proficiency in one or more of: Python,=20 Matlab, C/C++, and will have demonstrated the ability to work=20 collaboratively and independently. This post is based in the Centre for Digital Music (C4DM) and Centre for=20 Intelligent Sensing (CIS) of Queen Mary University of London. C4DM is a=20 world-leading multidisciplinary research group in the field of Digital=20 Music & Audio Technology; CIS has highly reputed research expertise in=20 multi-sensor data processing, distributed signal processing, vision and=20 audio analysis. Both groups are part of the School of Electronic=20 Engineering and Computer Science (EECS).
