In particular, this NIH-funded project aims to=20 understand how specific cochlear nucleus circuits, including=20 olivocochlear projections, are altered after cochlear synaptopathy.=20 Knowledge about these circuits will assist our understanding of how=20 signals are extracted from background noise and how these are degraded=20 after cochlear synaptopathy or =E2=80=98hidden hearing loss=E2=80=99.Tech= niques used=20 include /in vivo/, multichannel single-unit electrophysiology and=20 optogenetics to study network architecture and immunocytochemistry to=20 study neurochemistry. Prior experience with in electrophysiology, optogenetics, and=20 quantitative assessment (MATLAB, python=E2=80=A6etc) is desired, but cand= idates=20 with other relevant experience and a strong interest in the role of=20 neural circuits in sensory perception will be considered. The Shore Lab is an established member of the Kresge Hearing Research=20 Institute (KHRI), University of Michigan Medical School. KHRI and the=20 neuroscience community at the U-M provide a highly supportive and=20 diverse research environment and excellent career development=20 opportunities for postdoctoral fellows. *How to Apply / Contact* _HOW TO APPLY_ A cover letter is required for consideration for this position and=20 should be attached as the first page of your application. The cover=20 letter should address your specific interest in the position and outline=20 skills and experience that directly relate to this position. Please send=20 cover letter, CV, and a list of three references (name/contact info) to=20 Susan Shore, Ph.D. (sushore@xxxxxxxx). --=20 Susan E.
