In particular, this NIH-funded project aims to=20 understand how specific cochlear nucleus circuits, including=20 olivocochlear projections, are altered after cochlear synaptopathy.=20 Knowledge about these circuits will assist our understanding of how=20 signals are extracted from background noise and how these are degraded=20 after cochlear synaptopathy or =E2=80=98hidden hearing loss=E2=80=99.Tech= niques used=20 include /in vivo/, multichannel single-unit electrophysiology and=20 optogenetics to study network architecture and immunocytochemistry to=20 study neurochemistry.
