The Audio Engineering Society (AES) has issued a call for papers to be presented at its 2018 AES International Conference on Music Induced Hearing Disorders. This is the third AES conference on the topic, and will continue the important task of presenting and discussing advances in the state of the art in hearing loss diagnosis and prevention, as well as strategies, technologies, and devices related to safe yet impactful music production and reproduction. The event will take place at Columbia College in Chicago, IL, USA, June 20-22, 2018. Researchers from both the audiology and pro audio fields are invited to submit papers for presentation at the conference. Proposed topics for presentation include: Music versus Noise as an Exposure Agent; Hearing Exposure Measurement and Control Devices; Sound Level Management for Live Events; Active and Passive Hearing Protection Devices; Hearing Loss in the Music Industry; Electronic Devices for Hearing Impaired Musicians and Sound Engineers; Standardization and Legislation of Exposure to Music; and other related topics. Papers: Authors may submit a title, 60 to 120-word abstract, and 500 to 750-word pr=C3=A9cis of a proposed paper at http://www.aes.org/2018mihd_aut= hors/ by December 15, 2017. Authors submitting abstracts will be notified of preliminary acceptance by January 15, 2018 and must submit a full paper for peer review (4 to 10 pages) by February 15. Authors not wishing to pre-submit abstracts may submit a full paper for peer review by February 15. Final acceptance and feedback from peer review will be notified by March 15 and final manuscripts, taking into account feedback, should be submitted by April 15. Workshops and Technology Demonstrations: workshops and technology demonstrations will complement the conference papers sessions, led by experts in the field. These events will provide in-depth yet practical discussions related to hearing technologies, while demonstrating the application of science in real-world scenarios. Authors are encouraged to submit proposals by April 15, 2018 by contacting 2018mihd_workshops@xxxxxxxx directly. Proposals should include a title, abstract if relevant, name of convenor, and possible contributors.
