*** apologies for cross-posting *** Dear list, We are hiring a new post-doctoral associate at the Brain and Mind Institute= , University of Western Ontario, Canada. A 2-year postdoctoral position (renewable for a 3rd year) is available in t= he Cognitive Neuroscience of Communication and Hearing (CoNCH) laboratory o= f Ingrid Johnsrude (University of Western Ontario). The successful applicant will use behavioral/psychophysical methods and ele= ctrophysiological methods (EEG) and/or functional neuroimaging (fMRI) in yo= ung and older listeners to study how sound, particularly (but not exclusive= ly) speech, is processed by the brain, and the relationship between periphe= ral and central neural activity. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., = psychology, hearing science, neuroscience, physiology, engineering, compute= r science, etc.), excellent quantitative and computer skills, and effective= oral and written communication skills. The position is in the Brain and Mind Institute at Western, which is a vibr= ant and collaborative group including 36 core faculty, 170 core trainees, a= nd 26 associate faculty. It is one of North America=E2=80=99s foremost cogn= itive neuroscience groups, with multiple state-of-the-art electroencephalog= raphy recording systems, both 3T and 7T MRI systems, TMS, and cutting-edge = facilities for other types of psychophysical, electrophysiological and cogn= itive assessment. Depending on interest, close involvement with the School = of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Western, which houses the Nation= al Centre for Audiology and 24 principal investigators (PIs) in Audiology a= nd Speech Pathology and their trainees, is also possible. With annual research funding in excess of $240 million, and an internationa= l reputation for success, Western ranks as one of Canada=E2=80=99s top rese= arch-intensive universities (www.uwo.ca). The university campus is in Londo= n, a thriving city of 400,000+ people located midway between Toronto and De= troit.
