We are delighted to announce the availability of up to 3 Research Associate= positions in the Vocal Communication Laboratory, led by Professor Carolyn = McGettigan. The post-holders will join a large team comprising PhD students= , as well as undergraduate and graduate students and research assistants, t= o work on a 5-year research programme funded by The Leverhulme Trust. These= posts are available from January 2018, each for 2 years in the first insta= nce. The research project will employ the methods of cognitive psychology, cogni= tive neuroscience and phonetics/speech science to address questions relatin= g to the perception and production of the human voice, in particular concer= ning person identity and socio-emotional processes. Successful candidates for these roles will hold a PhD in a relevant discipl= ine, and must be able to evidence their intellectual and methodological cap= acity for effective leadership of a research project investigating human co= gnition. It is essential that candidates can demonstrate an interest in the= research area of vocal communication =96 however, while prior experience w= ith cognitive neuroscience techniques (e.g. fMRI, EEG) and voice research a= re highly desirable, they are not essential for appointment. All successful= candidates should show excellent communicative skills for a research envir= onment.
